CW4 Daryl W. Giddings served the U.S. Army and the Quartermaster Corps for twenty six and one half years. Mr. Giddings specialized in food service and he excelled at it. Mr. Giddings' major assignments include: Director, Army Food Service School, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Quartermaster Warrant Officer Career Manager/ Assignment Officer, Military Personnel Center, Alexandria, VA; Director, Army Food Service School, Fort Jackson, SC; and Food Advisor for the following units or agencies: Army Security Agency Europe, Augsburg, Germany; 3d Advanced Individual Training Brigade, Ft Jackson, SC; 11th Infantry Brigade, Vietnam; 1st Basic Combat Training Brigade, Ft Gordon, GA; and 35th Engineer Group, 18th Engineer Brigade, Vietnam.

Mr. Giddings has made many lasting contributions to the Quartermaster Corps. He was responsible for implementing ethnic specialty feeding, weight control diet lines, specialty houses, and multiple entree meals all of which have become standard in dining facilities worldwide. Mr. Giddings was a major contributor to the development of the Army Field Feeding System. He was responsible for the establishment of the Warrant Officer Advanced Course. Mr. Giddings was a major force in restructuring the accession criteria for new enlistees into the food service MOS that improved the caliber of soldier providing food service to the Army.

Mr. Giddings' awards and commendations include: the Legion of Merit (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Bronze Star Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), the Meritorious Service Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), the Air Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), and the Army Achievement Medal.
